Either way, without an enclosure around it and a cold air feed, it's doing more harm than good.

am tempted to get a cold air feed for it.. the pipe going from the filter to the grill, yea? they have some on motorworld pretty cheap are they a universal fit? can i whack one on my filter? or would i have to get a new filter?

Or you could just buy an uprated panel filter and drill the airbox and use the standard cold air feed

Could i use my new air filter and use the standard air feed? thoe.. i think i may have snapped the standard one gettting it off

Yeah use it but get a bit of tubing or hose a 2-3" wide and run it from the bottom of the bumper or front grille, squeeze it between the plastic shield by the radiator and upto the air filter. leave 5-10cm gap from air filter.

Try B&Q for some rubber flexi pipe in the plumbing \ bathroom section.

ah, ok.. is it not worth paying for a proper air feed then? presumably it will be loads cheaper from B&Q?

only worry about air feed if your bothered about every ounce of performance and as your not bothered about that i would leave the air feed.
it wont make much difference anyway

it's not the performance, but i was kinda given the impression it is better for the car if i have an air feed? - is it worth grabbing cheap tubing from a hardware store or not?

ok, cool well, i will have a cheaky gander next time im near a hardware shop, if i can pick some up for under a tennerish i will pick some up, if not.. screw it, i'll live as long as my car isnt going to die without it.
