P.S There is no quick way to lose weight, and if you do it via a ketogenic/lowcarb diet then you'll put it all back on once you eat properly again.
no you wont, if you cut out carbs to bring the weight off, then stick to a healthy diet after than the weight will not " go back on" thats stupid.
obviously if you start eating cakes all day ect it will, but not if you eat a sensible diet with decent carbs.
its quite easy to mnipulate your weight when you know how to, body builers/most athletes do it regularly to increase mucle or cut for a show ect ect.

Exactly - one of the biggest myths about low carb diets...
The reason the myth exists is because the majority of dieters have no will power though, and lose the weight then stuff their face full of burgers and cakes... but I know for a fact you can lose a lot of weight with low carb diets and exercise and keep it off.

Although, by starving yourself, you will cause your metabolic rate to fall...
Then when you eat again (if you were to starve for a week and then stuff your face again) you would put on the weight quicker / easier than usual as your metabolism would be at rock bottom.
Plus generally not eating at all will cause muscle's to waste away as well as fat, as your body will be trying to get energy from anywhere.

Ketosis/no carb thing is prob the best way to lose a lot of weight in a short time, and if you do it properly then you wont just put it back on again after. I went from 10st 10 to 10st 5 last week

Protein/carbs/fat is all needed for a proper diet to stop your body from burning protein/carbs. You want to be burning the fat.
If its possible plan your meals.
Make sure your carbohydrates come from something fibrous like broccoi.
Oatmeal is a really good source of carbs in the morning, something with no added sugar.
Consume plenty of water.
If you really wanna burn fat in the gym try HIIT(High intensity interval training).
For example on the treadmill, do one minute at 6 speed next minute at 7 speed and next at 8 speed. then back down to 6 and start again.
Its proven to burn more calories.
This are just little tips I am sure someone can explain in a more detailed way as I dont' have much time
I have lost 9lbs recently.
I have been reading these forums for just over a year now and they are really helpful!

It is bland...
Wake up,
have a few slices of chicken breast and few slices of cheese for breakfast... another day wake up have 2 small frankfurters for breakfast and another day have just bacon... egg is ok if u like it.
Have similar for lunch.
Then have like a main meat (beef / chicken / pork / etc) and green beans for dinner.
Have sugar free jelly with a little bit of cream for pudding.
a small handful of nuts for a snack.
Bland yeh... but total day = 10g approx of carbs.
You have to read every packet though and watch what you drink, something like 'orange juice' can be packed full of carbs.
I mainly drank water or diet coke (sugar free).
The problem with a low carb diet, is if you arn't doing it 100% it can have a reverse effect.
Essentially to lose weight just remove Fat (cals) or Carbs.
So either low cal diet or low carb diet is the two options.
but if you accidently add carbs when you don't realise and your on a low carb diet it can have a disasterous effect.
i.e. say you ate a load of high fat cheese, or beef high in fat - but all low in carb, providing you hadn't had any carbs, your body would not store this fat - but if you had carbs (i.e. a piece of toast with the cheese) you body would then start storing this HIGH fat and you'd gain weight.
Important you check every packet if you do it and don't assume anything will be low, as 'healthy' things i.e. 'low fat things' are generally high in carbs. So be careful.
It's bland, but if done properly you can easily lose a stone or more (if your already heavy) in about 2 weeks.
I'd also recommend mixing it with a fair amount of exercise at least 2-3 times a week.

I'm doing the no carb thing at the moment just for a couple of weeks as i said, to lose a bit of extra before I move to spain in 3 weeks. What Paul says about reading the packet on EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth is important, I had 5 throat lozenges throuhout a day last week cos I had a really sore throat, and it wasnt till I went to bed that I realised there were 2.5g of carbs in each one, which makes up for about 3/4 of your total daily allowance! Deffo exercise too, at the end of the day its the best and healthiest way of losing weight and keeping it off

Yeh! also Chewing gum! mints! - Don't swallow tooth paste Etc!
I might try to do this this week... Going cycling every day for about an hour at the mo, just because I'm doing a 10k run again soon so just trying to improve my general fitness...
but last few weeks I've been sitting around the house eating junk and I could do with cutting the fat. Just the effort.
Then again, I may just try to keep cals low and burn it with exercise. But generally I find the no carb stuff works wonders (probably coz it's burning while your asleep in bed).

i know ssj, i do bodybuilding, but from my take on this she is trying to lose the weight quickly before her holiday, and then on holiday will prob be eating normally or more than usual, hence the weight back on.
She could lose the weight using low carb diet etc, but some of it will be water weight so shes depeleted, that will come back. I just personally don't like low carb diets, as alot of people nowadays think "carbs are bad" when they aren't. People forget to lose weight u need to burn more than u consume. Although its probablly different for her compared to someone who wants to keep muscle etc as they dont want to enter a catabolic state.
All comes down to planning, should of planned the weight loss better if you knew you had holiday, then you wouldn't have to resort to a crash diet a week before you go
P.S - Check google for "The Velocity Diet" for a hardcore diet taking america by storm at the moment, i personally couldnt do it.
Quick run down - consists of low carb, micellar cassein protein shakes 5/6 times a day, with flax seed in it and some fat burners. Once a week you can have a solid meal, so you eat 4 solid meals (the diet is a 28 day cycle) its crazy, thats for someone with massive will power, i wouldnt try it though incase of muscle loss (even tho you take in a huge amount of protein i dont trust it)
Edit - "its quite easy to mnipulate your weight when you know how to, body builers/most athletes do it regularly to increase mucle or cut for a show ect ect."
Indeed, i know how to manipulate my weight, dont do it often though, im on a cut at the moment (aint gone to well atm as i've had 3 birthday weekends in 4 weeks) but i often manipulate my weight, if i have an event to go to such as say a wedding i'll go low carb for 2/3 days before hand, just to lose those extra few pounds of water weight, although im completely depleted so sometimes feel like shit

oops sorry for the amount of posts but i only just read this one. Thats a bit extreme counting throat lozenges. Also 2.5g x 5 = 12.5g of Carbs, that shouldn't be 3/4 of your daily requirement. Not even close, unless your on some sort of low carb diet. Only go that anal and obsessive if your competing etc, don't neglect things because "it has 2.5g carbs in"

As I said, im doing the no carb thing for a couple of weeks, and the atkins induction phase recommends no more than 20g of carbs a day for the first 14 days. I've lost over 2 stone from plain pld healthy eating and swimming between 2 and 3 miles a day, and I fully intend to keep it up in the long term too - just doing the crash diet as well to lose a few more lbs before I move to Spain!
