All I'm saying is if you risk using it on the roads you risk being stopped, having it taken off you, and possibly crushed.
Can someone not give you a lift to work for a few days til it's sorted?

Na mate, they say that the average time for a V5 to be created and sent off is 4 weeks (1 month) im not going without my car for 1 month tbh....
I start work @ 6 in the morning on the weekends tis not fair to wake the old dear up @ 5:30 asking her to give me a lift...

Id have that tax out of the windscreen sharpish if I was you.
Get to the DVLA office near you, get a log book there and then and then tax it.

^^ it's not as easy as that mate, my dad works just down the road from the nearest DVLA local office, he phoned them and told them about my situation they just said "take it off the road until you can get the V5 then tax it" but tbh I don't think I will do that, my mate works for the Police I'll ask him what I should do?

Stop pishing around with getting you dad, mums mate etc.
Go down to the Office yourself and explain the situation, but ffs dont let everyone know (Police/DVLA) that you havent got tax.

I already have explained my situation I may as well stand and talk to a bloody wall... its on deaf ears tbh! tis a p**s take I've been stitched up it was ok taxing it for the first time because the new keeper supplement is valid for 2 months...
I have been told by quite a few people that I only need my insurance cert & mot (which I have)
When they ask me about my tax reminder thing can't I just say I lost it? (obviously I don't have it)

you need the V5 regardless of anything else. so get yourslelf down to the DVLA in person and explain the situation and chances are you'l get a V5, once uv got that u can tax it simple.
tbh i wouldnt take my car off the road either its not your fault.

Yup, you may as well not bother with one, as the ANPRs will flag you as soon as you drive past a traffic car.
I had no tax for a week or so, and one day I drove past 2 mobile speed cameras and a huge speed camera van and nothing happened.. ?

Sorry, no sympathy.
Did you not just think to phone the DVLA after 2 or 3 months, to enquire about where the V5 was?

Ally was in the same situation with her car.
She bought it... previous owner had registered as disabled on the logbook.... so she couldnt tax it without getting the new v5.
She carried on driving whilst they were sorting it.

Exactly, speed camera vans, not tax vans or ANPR cars?

I now know what the problem is....
Basically the geezer that passed away (who I got the car from) was on disabled tax and therefore my mates mum wasn't able to sign off for the car as it is not hers and she needed to send a letter + plus death certificate stating this... the bird at the dvla tried to make it easier for my mates mum by phoning up the disabled people's company and getting them to send over a statement so she wouldn't have to pay £25!
Anyway she sent the cheque back to my mates mum (as she had already sent it) and said there was no need however their system won't allow for it or something and she had to send the cheque back again which as I am aware still hasn't been cleared and therefore they have not processed the details until it does clear (hence why I am not on their records)
bloody DVLA!!!!
I am going to try a diff post office with just my insurance cert + Mot and that should hopefully get me tax

Just go to the DVLA office directly and deal with them, the post office isn't the place to be dealing with in this situation, they're not the DVLA, they're just an outlet for tax discs.

Without the reminder, you'll need your V5. It says that on the tax form.
As for using another tax disc, the ANPR will still flag it as untaxed and when you get pulled you'll be driving an untaxed car on the road.

damn thats a shame, well I have taken my bro's tax disc out and have currently got my old one in! Hopefully it won't take too long @ the DVLA
- I have spoken to a friend (who works in the police) and he has said I have 10days!
so thats 8 days now
