I would've chucked her out of the car, seriously.
Some people are so up themselves, thinking there opinion on everything is morally correct and ethical etc. I swear it's just a front with most people trying to look good when infact they end up looking like complete cnuts.

His Argument to the fact China has most pollution, is the fact that WE shipped all our industry to china, so what do you expect? - The fact is, most of our stuff is made in china... so obviously they'll be pollution there instead of here.

And you couldn't counter that?
China is nuclear power, yet burn the shittiest possible coal on earth for their electricity/power because its cheap.
Meanwhile in the sleepy old UK we have people doing masters degrees who have learnt that doing a track day is going to cause the earth to stop revolving
Honestly, I think these days you need a degree in being blinkered to do a degree in environmental studies.

Its already been proven that the amount of 'harmful' gases in the atmosphere follows the temperature, not the other way round.
So in other words....their is no such thing as global warming!

Uk is doing quite a bit, cars and bikes are great fun, not going to get the bus @ £2 to stand next to a drunk or some noisy chavs talking about how sick they are and how 20 of them beat up some old geezer
What I mean is cant expect people to stop using there personal transport when the public transsport is a discrace, cant stand it.........
I want to own a r34 gtr v spec 2 one day im not going to buy a fiat panda because the ozone layer is burning away...got twin turbos and looks that good...
I think there was some statistics out they that said the whole of the united kingdom produces something silly like 0.6% of all the gases, mosty the cows aswel.
I have a bag on my kitchen door to put recyclable goods in so after a few years I would have help recycle so much stuff that the skyline would still leave me in credit...Doing My Bit, How About You?

Unfortunately the people trying to prove global warming/climate change/ozone depletion etc etc (or what ever the latest sound bite is) are sponsored by governments who tax us to fund the research
>clicky<
Thats a point in case....£££££ (or euro) to find out what they want us to know.
To put this into context....as you know I design schools. because of the environmental bibble babble a school now costs twice as much as it did two years ago. Same sized building, same thermal properties.
All coming from our taxation.
Nice.

Nice comment there .....but you contradicted yourself a tad.
Yes we may contribute 0.6% of global Co2 emissions (dont quote me on that, you wont easily find any stats anywhere to verify that due to the govt)
Soooooo....that means if all UK residents went carbon neutral, we would contribute a MASSIVE saving to a (perceived) global problem amounting 0.6% of the worldwide emissions.
It's either that or at present my carbon footprint is 1/60millionth of 0.6% global
WOW. I'm impressed, can somebody do the math on my global impact Co2 wise?

There's an easy way to prevent flooding anyway, a simple method of storing the water somewhere.
Also, there's a bloody good method of cutting car emissions, and congestion at the same time, which is already being used in one part of the country, and has been for a good 13 years now.

I hope all his degree paperwork was printed on recycled paper. If not he can go for a saddle-less ride on his ethnic peace bicycle, the chump.

Well, instead of worrying about flood control and spending millions on new flood channels, all you need to do is make it a legal requirement for every household to ALWAYS have their bath filled.
That's ~225 litres of water in every household, 60 million people in the country, so probably 25 million houses?
So, if every house in the UK alone has a full bath, that's 5,625,000,000 litres of water not in the rivers.
Then when you want a bath, empty it, fill it up, have the bath and leave the water in.
That's just the UK, and it's a small country, do it all over the world and there's less water causing floods.
I know 5 billion litres isn't a lot, but it would help a bit.
The other thing is roll on, roll off trains, like the Channel Tunnel, which is proven to work.
Get on at your local train station, switch your car off, get off at your destination (or the nearest mainline train station) then motorways are less congested, and people are using cars less, and it would cost you less that it would to drive.
I bet neither of those have been suggested by the environment secretary.

Its not that simple TBH Robin.
Surface water attenuation on sites has been about for years...unfortunately the public water sewers put down in the past can cope with the recent levels of housing put up.
Its a very complex subject

yeah, but it all ends up back in the water cycle as rain at one point or another, it might work

It would overwhelm the processing plants though.

I personally don't believe in GW.
But on the issue of flooding, i think developers should pay towards a scheme where the EA would buy fields around potential flood areas as an overflow contingency, even make them into nature reserves. Instead of making the developer cater for 1 in 100 year + 30% climate change flows on their small sites in the scheme of things, which can be quite significant amount of additional storage measures.
