Our new sports centre gym caters well for the big guys, the weights corner is always packed full of guys with muscles the size of your head, quite intimidating actually.

dont be intimidated, most big guys like to help. Everyone started at some point, whatever you do dont feel intimidated, i wouldn't be surprised if some of them would help/give pointers if you asked. Make sure you ask them when they aren't doing an exercise so they dont lose focus etc or even better in the changing rooms/out side the gym

Yeah i went over and asked a guy that resembled Mr T to run through a few things and he was really helpful went out of his way actually to be nice. Found him a better help than the staff tbh.

Thats because most staff/PT's in these fitness first gyms know fuck all! Always best to get advice from someone who actually looks like they know what they are doing.
Well done on asking though, best way to do it as you'll never learn how to do it properly from watchin videos on the net. Always best to ask them to check your form to make sure your doing it all right.

Yep like AdZ9 says, the big guys are always the 1st to offer any help or point out your mistakes (not take the piss) just a quiet word like "this will work better if you.....blah blah"
