The reason why you are seeing a lot of them now is because they were advertised about a year ago, people ordered them off of pictures and they are being delivered now.
Kind of stands to reason

The fuck?
I believe it's the fluid in the dampers. It contains metalic particles and it's viscosity/behaviour is altered by an electric charge Peter.

Iron filings in the dampers which float around doing nothing until the are magneticly charged and stiffen up the damper.

off topic but....
I cant understand why audi advertise the R8 on TV???
its not as if average joe will be watching the ad and then go 'hunny, get your coat.... we're going down to the audi dealer to part-ex the astra for an R8'
Not sure what audi are trying to say with that ad??? you dont see porsche or ferrari advertising their 'supercars' just after corrie. If Audi are looking trying to say "look at us... look at our range" then why not just make a 30 sec ad showing the A3, A4, A8, Q7 etc...

Audi are advertising thier brand with the car. They are showing how technologicly advanced their cars and manufacturing techniques are.

fair enough but what use is that to me.
I've seen that ad a number of times and not once have i thought "shite, the 80K R8 is technologically advanced so that must also apply to their 20k family saloon"
just think its poor advertising but then again... what do i know compared to audi's advertising guru's lol

It all helps build the brand whether the association is that the technology will filter down, or that merely you have a car by the same manufacturer as that good car. In its weakest association it is probably even good for residuals.

No differant to Renault associating themselves with the F1 car in their advertising. We all know the Clio and a Formula 1 car are worlds apart but the average car buyer sees that the manufacturer also competes at the highest level which influence (some) people.
