I have loads of fun driving my car, I just change up a gear when my torque runs out, don't see the benefit of staying in one gear to rev the tits out of it except for the extra gear change that I need for 60, and I don't do many 0-60 drags anyway so in fact is not a problem.

Overtaking is brilliant, petrol you'd have to go down 2 gears.

i got in my missus clio the other day, granted its a 1.2 16v but returns similar mpg to mine ~50mpg

it was really painfully slow, like worse than i remember when i had petrols in the past, so like for like in terms of economy to power diesel is so much better

Haven't got a diesel at the moment but can't decide what I want really. Got 12-14k to spend, so it'll either be an S2000 for 12k (petrol drinker - 25mpg if you're lucky but great fun) or something newer but more sedate like Leon/Astra 1.9 diesel for 14k........can't decide what I want

Unless petrols start offering the same mix of useable performance and economy then I'll probably stick with diesels

Im only driving my diesel until put away enough funds to go an buy a real car, they are just so so so boring to drive. I find myself ripping the handbrake up round roundabouts and driving into barriers / post in carparks just relieve some of the boredom

having spent alot of time in america where petrol costs nothing in comparison to here i would deff switch back to a petrol car.

at the end of the day i do miss the sweet noise of a petrol engine and the larger band of power

but then thinking of this country with our thousands of speed camera's and high fuel prices you may as wel go for a diesel
