John i used to look after a friends dog when they went on holiday. He was a beefy mother fucker and yes, he got hold of my leg once never again.

Dan when you say hours will it do a 7 to 9 mile walk? The reason I ask is that we go camping twice a year and they are dog walking holidays. If we got a bull dog we wouldnt want to leave it home...

I'd be happy to walk mine 4/5 miles, so long as the weather wasn't to hot.

A common misconception imo. Sure they don't like extreme heat, but mine has no probs in normal uk weather conditions.

Also, they have a pretty insatiable appetite and pile weight on easily. As with a fat human this can cause breathing problems.

People seem too interested in getting them as big as possible.

theyre great if you show them ur pack leader, can be very stubborn and headstrong, like most dogs tbh. prone to health issues and you gotta clean there face folds daily

As Russ said, they are stubborn and headstrong, if they don't want to do something, they just make themselves as heavy as possible and refuse to budge. They do need to be cleaned around their faces every couple of days to keep the rolls hygienic.

Health issues and breathing difficulties are talked about all the time, but i genuinely believe that is because a lot of owners like them to be as wide as possible and feed them far too much to achieve a 'look', as with humans this leads to respiratory problems. I feed mine a good varied diet and excersize her regularly and she is in tip top condition. She is still big(25kg), wide and short but also fit and can run as fast as most dogs, even though her legs are only about 5 inches long Before I bought mine I read loads of literature about them and the 'experts' only recommend 15 minutes excersize a day, imo this is nowhere near enough and they can be excersized as much and often as any other breed.

Mine isn't around kids all the time but is superb when she is and will play for hours. They also seem to sympathise with older people and become very gentle around them.

They love to sleep, mine can sleep 23 hours a day if you let it, they snore loudly and fart and burp all the time. But they are amazingly loving and gentle and pull stupid faces all the time, mine will often jump onto the sofa at the side of me and sit up on her arse like a human.

Be warned they are expensive, so worth it imo though, just seem to have a different personality to any other kind of dogs.
