Yeh 172 will probablly be my choice, had some good news today which is that im getting all my deposit back from my house that i rented last year. So i'll have £600 extra which should help with the budget to get a 172 cup!

They don't have a peashooter on show, backbox is hidden.

My Old one.

true, but it don't look smart when you can't see the exhaust, on a fast car.

lovely cars but you do pay a premium.

you'd get a lupo for £5.5k
my mates got a silver one, such a nice car to drive, handles really well and feels very quick
it feels bigger inside than my audi S3
very good car for the cash, as is a polo GTi - same car - but cheaper!

Golf 1.8T are slow compared to the small, lightweight clio 172s etc

I love german cars tho, not a big fan of french.
As a rule, german cars are built well and will do better for your money
french cars will put a smile on your face but probably fall apart or be worth fuck-all in a few years!

I now have a clio 182 (hence why my corsa is for sale) and I love it....great car...but to be honest I dont think you would get a very nice one for five grand, you would ideally want to spend a bit more and get one in better condition, why not save up a bit more money so you can pay some in cash and finance the rest?
Or on a seperate note, have you considered a focus st170? alot of car for the money, and a nice one can be had for about 4500-5000.

I'd be after a 172 or 172 cup version mate and it seems there are quite alot in my price range, i'm still not 100% though

Just looking at the focus, didn't know the st170s are in my price range, whats the performance figures for them though?

I wouldn't go for the Focus over the Clio. Cousin used to have a ST170 and it wasn't nice at all. Didn't feel like it had much grunt, had to really work it and even then it wasn't that quick plus dreadful gearbox IMO.

Clio on the other hand is loads of fun. Some people find the driving position a bit funny (me included) but you probably get used to it

I do need something which will make the fun of driving come back, my current car has really killed it. I only drive it when i really have to.

One of my mates has just got a new orange Focus ST and anotherh as a CTR so will be nice to get a nippy/new car to go for drives etc with. I'd look at lowering the 172 with a full exhaust system and some alloys, apart from that i wouldnt need to do much i doubt. After a year i would possibly consider upgrading the engine with cams etc but that would be a big maybe

Just looked on PH at golfs, theres a few by me in my price range, i like the look of some of them but i just dont think it would bring the fun of driving back as much as the clio. Can't get a Polo as both my mum and sister have one

thats stunning. Yeh i know what you mean about the half leathers etc, thats the reason why i am more swayed to the normal 172 not the cup.
Although you could still make your 172 look like that could you not?

I've been on cliosport.net today, they dont have like a project section or members photos do they? just general pics of 172s? I need inspiration
