I've got a mate who is a field medic with the Marines and from the stories he's told me about Iraq and Afghanistan you would have to be either suicidal or mentally unstable to sign up for the forces. He’s actually leaving this year to join the Paramedics as he sick of being shot at and patching up bullet wounds.
