Ok cheers Robin, so do you think its easier to remove the SAI system then? I was thinking of getting my mate to weld the attachments back on, but it sounds like it has to be very precise

Cheers for your help again Robin

It's EASIER to bin it, but it wouldn't be difficult to drill the hole out for the SAI on the new manifold (it's just a plain round hole) and a hole for the bolt, then tap a thread.

I wouldn't bother keeping it though, it doesn't really do a lot and you won't miss it when it's not there, unless you're an ecomentalist.

I couldn't give a shit about the fumes - hence the decat

Won't make a difference to the MOT will it, as it only works when the engine is warm IIRC?

Mine passed with flying colours without a cat or the SAI, and it wasn't a dodgy test

btw, I meant cold

What is the law regarding the de-cat? If the car passes the emmisions section of the MOT without a cat, is that legal, or does it actually have to have a cat fitted?

It's still illegal.

The MOT tester won't fail it though in my experience, but if you were to get spot checked at the roadside, they might fine you if it visibly hasn't got one.

Is yours silenced, or straight through?

Since you've got a de-cat, the SAI will be doing sod all anyway, Because all that did was warm the cat up quicker from cold. Bin it

True Scott.

Rob, the Janspeed one I am getting has a silencer, so it should be ok.

I may get the emissions checked after the decat is fitted, so I know whether I have to change it over for the MOT again.

You will have to put the cat on for the MOT.

The SAI won't show a fault code when it's unplugged.
