i agree. similar thing happend to my uncle on his bike, he overtook someone on single carriage way and climbed up to about 85, but he saw the police straight away and slowed down, they pulled him and warned him about his speed but said they couldnt do anything as he was completing a manovre and it was allowable to break the speed limit to complete a manouvre saftely i dont understand

Quote from the highway code:

168
Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

Yup - If he think's he's right, i'd push for getting his hands on the tape and doing the copper over with it.

Presumably they'll mysteriously "lose" the tape, or find a way out of it. I'd be surprised if they're that dumb to try and press charges based on evidence showing themselves to be at fault .

If they fail to hand over the tape then i would imagine the judge would state something like ''the evidence is now unadmissable in court' as they failed to give you a copy.

The police WILL get away with this Colin.

They'll simply lie wherever necessary and invent an emergency call if need be.

The JP will believe every word from the police and throw the book at your Father's friend saying he should simply have pulled back in behind the Audi.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but that is just how it works.

I've witnessed and suffered it too often to know any different.

He was along side it when it started to speed up its a single carriageway so he was out on the other side of the road. As far as im concerned most people would continue the maneuver....I would!

if im reading this right , "single carrriage way road" shouldnt be overtaking on a road like this,
therefor doesnt have a leg to stand on?

Why the hell not? Its a road, your allowed to overtake if the car infront is moving slowly
