No problem in that is there?
the way it works in my team is that the person who's birthday it was last buys the next birthday card. no collection, no present.
i havent got a problem with that because i like my team.

totally agree with you lot here. they do it all the time at our place also.
one of the most rediculous occasions was when our managers son got into the fire brigade, they had a collection for him. i refused to put into a colection for somebody who has never even stepped foot in our work place.
i wont put in for birthdays, pregnancies, leaving do's etc. if there is anybody that i care about and they have a birthday i will get them a card myself. they haven't even bothered asking me in the last year or so as they know the score.
just to make it more of a piss take i've had an 18th and a 21st whilst i've worked here and i've not had so much as a card. not bothered about it at all but it just shows that its all about people sucking up to people who count at work.

And if you can't afford a fiver, then maybe you should be thinking about getting off CS and working harder so you can earn a bit more money. I would be fucking worried if I couldn't afford to spend £5!
there's a difference between being able to afford it and actually wanting to. for things like that i just think where my money is best off being spent and tbh i'd rather put all my potential collection money into the charity pot at my local asda.

Yep so many going on here the staff room table currently has 3 on
21st birthday
Someone up the duff
Someone off sick
Dont mind an ocasional one like when someone retired a couple of months back as they had been there years.
However all of the recent petty ones are ridiculous. Thats what you get for working with a majority of women

I contribute a pound or so if I like the person.
I just sign the card if i consider them just a work colleage I get on with.
I don't do sh1t if I dislike them, except eat their cakes if they buy them when leaving.

Its because its strange territory for them, so they bring feelings and shit in the workplace, when they belong at home

i blame a lot of issues with women here are down to the fact they are unhappy at home, they have controlling hsubands and partners and exploit there position at work to make them feel they do have control and power

Happens a lot here, I generally don't give it if someone I've never met but I did get a pair of trainers when I was off having my appendix out years ago so I have been on the right side of it once.
I think being a young, single, well person doesn't help. Old people with issues and children get more prizes.

This is one of the things you just have to put up with if you work a mundane job in a shitty office.
