Well im off to buy a compression tester and going from there. After some searching on mig for oil burning etc I came across a thread by the person that I brought the cylinder head from and they were having the same problem. This thread is dated a month before I purchased the head. All very suspicious imo

first ghostly experience at work just now

there was an ornamental glass bottle placed on top of the box of the toilet which was leaning against the wall, its fallen off the top of the toilet and hit the bowl smashing it in 2 seperate places
