theres a vid out there somewhere of a 106gti racing a 182 round a track, and the 182 couldnt lose him for toffee, theres not as much difference as you would think
But it still won.

nope, it started in front, and ended up in front, im not sure the 106 could get past, but it certainly didnt lose any ground

im not sure why people find it hard to accept the 106 as being one of teh greatest drivesr hatchs ever.
thats why it ranked top of evos hatch choice for ages

I agree that it is a wonderful car to drive (haven't driven a GTi, but have a VTS). You can throw it into corners at quite a ridiculous pace. But it isn't the ultimate hatch imo.

so it has around the same power as the 1.8 corsa c sri but the 106 will be lighter.the 1.8 sri has about 125bhp and 0-60 in 8 sec.
i think i would still prefer the corsa c 1.8 sri tbh
its a lot lot slower to 100 the corsa c is
1/4 mile for a standard 106gti can be done in low 15's too
[Edited on 17-02-2008 by Steve]
I will disagree for the last time, been there done it, and will be happy to do it again

pulsar GTi-R
Starlet Glanza turbo
Clio Williams
mk2 ibiza GTI 16v
...are all hatchbacks i'd rather have than a 106GTI, but as Steve says they are one of the best, if not the best all rounders.

its close to one of the best all time drivers hatches, it suffers in things like creature comforts etc, but you will not get much better out the box for a track, just look at the top gear vid when richard burns was driving ir properly, he thought it handled even better than an elise

But your VTS was tuned, and kept up with Valvers. So a standard one would be beaten by his Valver Jas?
