Each girl had 7 backpacks. There are are seven girls, so the total number of backpacks is 7*7=49.

In each backpack there are 7 big cats. We know there are 49 backpacks, so the number of big cats is 49*7=343.

For each big cats there are 7 little cats, so the number of little cats is 343*7=2401.

So if there are 343 big cats and 2401 little cats, the total number of cats is 343+2401=2744.

Multiply by four to get the number of legs the cats have betwen them and you get 2744*7=10976.

Add the 14 legs the girls have, and the final answer is 10976+14= 10990.

kids x 7 bags = 49 bags

49 bags x 7 big cats each = 343 big cats

343 big cats x 4 legs each = 1372 big cat legs

343 big cats x 7 kittens = 2401 kittens

2401 kittens x 4 legs = 9604 kitten legs

7 kids x 2 legs = 14 kids legs

1372 big cat legs + 9604 kitten legs + 14 kids legs = 10990 legs.
