No problem in buying a Corsa B and 'restoring it' until you can drive. My question is why are you on a predominantly Corsa C site, if looking at getting a B? Mates? Or was you interested in C's to begin with?
P.S. The people that say a 12v is unreliable. Mine hasn't let me down in nearly 20k miles, using it daily. They either 1) bought absolute pigs 2) didn't look after them.

I owned a 1.2 8v and i was willing it to brake down for an excuss to get rid of the thing, sheer hell driving it.

I did exactly the same, got a 1.2 8v at 16 had it all done by when i passed my test at 18, now 2 years on i have some no claims and just bought a clio 172.
