No, it has 19's from factory. And has genuine BMW rear LED's fitted, which, are the only real change compared to the standard E46 Coupe's.
I know how the industry works and I know how Audi works. They actually got the price from a BMW dealership in Bedford.
Like I said, you live and learn. But I would also consider the price difference normal for a normal mileage, E46 330Ci or something. But this is an M3, so something slightly more special than your bogo standard BMW.

True but factor in that there are a million and one (generally undesirable) silver m3s on the market... a market which is declining significantly atm
Agreed it is poo though

Running costs. It's like £1k insurance per year including tracker, tyres are expensive, fuel is expensive, repairs of any kind expensive, servicing etc.

Doesn't suprise me. I didn't even bother asking how much they'd give me for my Corsa, knew I'd be better off selling privately to someone that wanted it.

some people love a good moan
it's a car, if you want a good investment, put your money into gold or something.

Funny you should say that. People are doing that because it's at $1000 per ounce at the moment, due to the dodgey stock markets.
Might try and persuade to get a 1.7 CDTI SRi Corsa C and £10k's worth of gold

He should just stick it in the garage and leave it there and run a banger until he can afford to run it again. Or use the banger permanently and run the BMW as an occassional car.

Yes.
All the more reason why dad doesn't want to get rid. He could afford to run it, but there is more to life than insurance, petrol and what no.
SVM 286 - then it'd be worth even less

Sounds like he doesnt really do much mileage anyway. If owned from new 5k a year? Is he really going to benifit from buying a Diesel? Doubt hes really going to save much, if he enjoys the M3 he should just keep it.

The Audi was just an example - but he is self employed/bricklaying sub-contractor, so there are benefits of the diesel.
No, he hasn't owned from new. 3 years this year.

Condition means little in a cars value and IMO so does mileage. So long as condition isnt fucked and it hasnt been to the moon and back twice its pureply based on what year the car is in my experience.
and just cos u put a private plate and some late spec rear lights on it doesnt make it as desireble as an 04 plate car

That's precisely dad's point. He doesn't want to keep paying out silly money for the M3 for it not to be used. Getting an A3 is still a quality car, but the insurance is like £300/year and it'll have warranty remaining.
He/we aren't out'n'out petrol heads. We're mountain biking junkies instead

It would to a private buyer though, imho. To a garage, probably not. A more up to date looking M3 is going to be easier to sell than say, a 2001 Y-plate. This is just before facelift spec, but looks like a facelift.

Cant be doing that many miles tho if the M3's only got 30k. Its all good running a derv but if your only doing a few k's a year you wont really see a considerable saving. £20 a month on fuel possibly!
