my mate at work got a £1000 rebate last month, was paying emergency tax for ages

i had over £1300 rebate last year, you get taxed on your rebate ..i had £998 in the end!

he didn't get taxed on his rebate and didn't get taxed on his weekly pay for 2 weeks

Question is, do I have to send off my forms and beg for this rebate, or will it just happen automatically?
I'm not working currently, while I was at my last employer i started getting rebatted a bit of the money i was owed.

i got a £1300 two years ago, and never got taxed on that...
hoping for sa rebate again, as i've was out of work from last jan, untill december this year, and been paying a fair amount of tax since i've been working again

no you dont. That would mean that you arte getting taxed on the tax that you have already payed

i know i got taxed!!!!!!!!!! i had to phone up and ask about it! it was emergancy tax rebate coz my emplyer was a twat and never sorted out my tax !

they probably gave you everything back you had payed and took off what you should have on the correct tax code

You get taxed on Interest... I know that...
But wasn't aware you got taxed on tax rebate seems a bit odd.
DYL it depends how much tax you paid... your employer may of only deducted tax relevant to the whole year.
Hamish, I swear my parents have had tax rebates before without asking for it? think they just got a cheque in the post.

my dad sorts out all my taxes for me and he's told me that i have to fill in a certain form and send it off with my P60 for my years earnings to get rebate
