Its all in your terms and conditions, it shouldn't be a surprise.

Unless you didn't read it of course.

How the hell do you live, having to risk going overdrawn by filling up petrol?

I had a £5k overdraft while I was a student, reduced it month on month and reduced the limit voluntarily, went over it, got charged and they said I went over, look happy.

I went to the branch at lunch time while it was very busy and there was a member of staff on directing people, she asked me what she could do for me and I shouted across the room 'I WOULD LIKE TO COMPLAIN' and started telling her the story.

I was in a private room being told it was all OK very soon after.

This is after the guy on the phone had computer says no'd me. Very much depends who you speak to and whether they want to help.

OD limit is back up to £5k btw and I'm not close enough to worry

As Ian said, I was in a very similar situation, spoke to a couple of numptys on the phone before eleviating my complaint and geting £700 of charges refunded to me.

Obviously your happy they've stopped all your charges, but thats not really a result for you is it?
If they're not goign to charge you in the future, then they shouldnt have charged you in the past.

Make an official complaint (phone or at bank) and take it as far as possible, demand the money back it, espically as they agreed not to slap you with the unfair charges in the future.

i don't have/need an overdraft.

as long as you are careful with your money and know when payments are coming out/when you get paid then you should be fine

£63 for 24 pence takes the piss though

I'd not let my balance get that bad that i'd go overdrawn if i put 24p too much petrol in though.

I dont have an overdraft either but surely you'd know to be extra careful if you are aware that you do not have the money to be throwing around and accidents (banks) normally happen when you are low on money.

But sometimes you NEED to spend on certain things bills etc.. which puts the whole money planning thing out the window.

i have however learnt now. and doesnt happen anymore. but this is more likely to do with alot more money going in!
