Don't go for cheap. The Nikon one is about £350-450 and is one of the pro lenses so is sharp as hell. I suspect Canon do one similar?

Trust me though its worth it, always get the very best you can afford because you will only regret it later when you want the better one and you have wasted sumet like £100 on a poorer version.

I learnt this the hard way, now i only go for nikons lenses and if i can stretch to it the pro versions When your getting pin sharp shots more often then not your realise its money well spent

Totally agree with you, Im a sharpness junkie.. hence the reason I shoot in 100 ISO where ever I can, obviously because I have a cheap body the higher ISO capabilities are no where near as good as on the more expensive bodies.

I just treated myself to a battery grip for my cam, its a canon BG-E3:

comes with an xtra battery etc. and also some cheap UV lens filters to stop em getting scratched.

Excellent choice Dan, makes the camera much more comfortable, especially when shooting portrait

Still need one of those Hoddo.

Completely blew my money on expensive lenses though so will have to go without for a while.

Agree with before though, get the best whether you can afford it or not

yeah, I figured since I've got the fixed 50mm lens, why not. Now we've got better lighting outside cos of summer gonna try and do some nice portraiture of various people. the 350/400D bodies are pretty small as it is, so this should help out. look cooler as well haha. I wouldnt of even gave it a thought until I saw ya avatar image, just looks a better shape to work with

Thats what I'm hoping Hoddo

Was told that the 'L' lenses with IS drank batteries but mine seem to be holding up really well. Still getting 500 shots off in a day without recharging - very surprised

And yes, sorry to hijack

I've never killed my battery yet. it holds its charge for ages, what with battery grip as well I'll have double the charge time, do I have to unscrew the battery cover for the grip to fit?

Probably in the instructions. Think the battery cover unclips completely and the grip slots in. As I say though, not got one. You'll have to post pics fitting
