No he's not. He's said the phone downstairs is plugged in, and he thinks the one upstairs works by magic.

The phone downstairs is the main base station and is plugged into the phone line - which he has already said is filtered. The other phone is only plugged into the power socket to charge it. It doesnt have a phone line going into it. Its not magic, its just wireless.

Show me where he said the main phone downstairs doubles up as a base station for portables. You could assume that maybe, but it doesn't say it. We're dealing with someone who's obivously clueless here, so all the facts are required.

Most likely an intermittent sync issue. (sync is basically the connection between your phone line and the DSLAM at your telephone exchange)

Give your broadband provider a call and they will go through diagnostics with you and raise a fault to BT wholesale if its needed.

He has said it, just didnt go into decript detail like I did above to explain it as I doubt he thought their was any need for such a simple issue.....

TBH it sounds like he wouldn't even know if there was a transmitter plugged in. He didn't even know the sky box has a line.

But any cordless phones i've had, no matter if you use 10, there will still be one base transmitter plugged into the line. Typically this base doesn't have it's own phone, because they're all wireless. So, you saying the "phone" plugged in downstairs also has a transmitter built in that the cordless uses upstairs?

If its anything like ours the main base has space for a phone to charge (and posisbly an answerphone). He has already said this one base has a filter, agessssss ago.

I think yours is, he has clearly said only one phone is plugged into the phone line and the others are into power sockets

The main downstairs phone is plugged in using the phone line, with a filter.

The upstairs phone is plugged into the mains, just to charge it.

My filters are the ADSL ones that came with the Modem.

You reckon they could be the problem?

I think its a dodgy router tbh.

I'd say filters.

Give me your address on a u2u, and i'll send you some... how many do you need?

If its still a problem, replace the lan cable. (from filter to router)

if its a belkin then use the set up disc you got with it.otherwise use the main pc and go online and in the address bar type 192.168.2.1(no http or www) and this should login to the router.and take it from there.
