I think that they can get 200bhp out of them. However the cost of doing it is huge. You'll be talking low comp pistons, uprated rods, crank..... pritty much everything. What did you do to the internals when you had everything out?

No, it replaces the standard differential INSIDE the gearbox

im with daveB, even if you havent got all the horseppower in the world a LSD will still be beneficial

It's in the gearbox. It helps you get out of corners with your foot down

I guess if your corsa isn't an XE, and is going to be a tuned up 1.6 then you'll have a bit less torque, so maybe it won't be an issue. If you've got a FWD track/fast road car thats making anything above 140bhp, then IMO an LSD is the single best thing you could do to improve the car.
Just seen this......
Yeah mine is a 1.6 16v. It's not at that stage yet (125bhp now). I'm going to be getting the sus set up perfectly of track days (coilovers and them top mounts.....) so with the extra 25 on top of what i have now, i don't think it'll be needed.
What sus have you got on?

Coilovers up front with replacement 300lb springs; helper spring removed.
Whiteline ARB
Rear ARB
All tracked and camber adjusted
Having a 4kg flywheel didn't help matters as it revs so fkin quick the tyres just don't get chance to grip. But even before I could spin the wheels coming out of corners in 2nd gear.
I'm going to make an assumption here, but I'm guessing you haven't driven a car with an LSD; or at least driven one in anger. If this is the case, you reeeally need to.

I was joking, when saying the yellow thing
But i understand what you mean now
Bit strange how you mentioned the LSD then add an external pic of the engine to your post. lol

internals were as follows.....
bores honed (spelling?)
new piston rings (standard vauxhall)
uprated con rods (wossener) with arp bolts
uprated crankshaft bearing shells
lightened fly wheel with a fancy clutch (can't remember name on clutch)
crankshaft balanced (at a reputable engineering shop)
288 cams
thats about it I think

Chris - That was to show the inlet and how clean it is.
Dave - No i haven't.... [hint] i would really like to try two cars set up the same but one with an LSD and one without [/hint]
My tyres are nearing bold at the mo. They've been on about 5k. I don't drive in anger, just quick

Thats a fair spec that Waters. I'd think that you could stick some TB's on and away you went.
Oh and PLEASE uprate the BRAKES and the SUSPENTION

Steve, my previous car (Integra TypeR) had an LSD from the factory. I never believed the hype, but it was quite simply fkin awesome. When going around roundabouts it was like having your car tied to an anchor in the middle LOL
I'll happily demonstrate to you why a corsa XE needs a diff if you like (haven't got round to getting one for mine yet), but as my XE'll be on 200bhp in a fortnight it really really will need one!

brakes are cavalier 2litre with red dot pads they seem to stop very well indeed!
suspension is a problem at the moment......the 17 inch wheels that are on are et35 so they stick out too far to lower it........so i'm looking for some smaller wheels with et49 then planning on dropping it about 90mm!

thats ripe for some tb's and management. 288's with that spec and a good exhaust manifold will get you 180 bhp

maybe a silly question but......whats the difference between throttle bodies and carbs.......the reason I ask is that my father in law has a pair of webber 45 carbs in his garage that I can have if I want.
what do you think? would they be any good?

TB's uses your injectors and i don't think that the carbs do.
You'll get more power from some TB's than carbs plus you have to keep messing/setting up the carbs every now and then.

Carbs - Old Skool Tuning - Sucks in some air and put in some 'jets' to match
Throttle Bodies - Modern Day Carbs - Electronic fuel injector with mappable ignition tuning. THE way forward.
If you can get some 45s cheap/for nowt then put them on. You can always move to TBs later

Yeah they will due to reducing that 6ft of inlet piping.
Set up propperly, depends on the exhaust system you have, could see over 130bhp, 140bhp at a push.
