Seriously, do you know what can happen if you don't top an engine up with Oil? TBH if the oil isnt topped up then i'd hazard a guess that your coolant is low. Then theres the condition of everything else.
course i do, i topped it up with oil a week and a half ago, but drove back from london 100+miles with no oil cap on
Oops

just been out and theres no mayo stuff on either the oil cap or collant cap, there was pressure in the coolant tank, and it was low on water, the water wasnt 100% clean and had a few black particles in there and ill take a picture of it before i fill it up as its too hot to fill up atm

I did this too but went 3mile up road and could smell something, jumped out to a black front end
Cleaning it was a task and a half!
Hope you get it sorted

My 1.2 8v ran at 100 for the alst 4-5 years and I've never had any problems; thats with the correct oil and coolant level; the fans kicking in at the correct points; new thermostat 6 years ago and a full service every 6-8 months.
Never had a problem

My coolant looks similar to that. Also, after a long stint and I turn the engine off to say, get petrol then turn it back on, it makes all sorts of funky gurgling noises.
HG is fine. Not using coolant or oil. Let it get to the temp where the fan kicks in with no expansion tank cap on and still does it. The car sits at just about 90deg no problem.
Either you've got something wrong i.e. a part (not necessarily HG) or it just needed a top up.
Make sure you put a bit of new coolant in there. The GM stuff says it helps prevent overheating, as well as freezing etc

I find it better to spend money on essential things for the car, i.e. oil, coolant & washer fluid before spending money on mods I keep a 1 litre oil in my car

Sorry if that's true, but it looks totally empty apart from a tiny pool at the bottom. I wouldn't have thought the outlet hole would be that visible if it were filled.

I would have said the same tbh, if thats the bottle half full then the water looks pretty nice and clean as you can see the outlet!
Get the oil topped up and see if it runs any cooler, if not try changing the stat, try again!
