From the list

Gearboxes- had 155bhp on mine plus 75shot of nos and never failed
Engines - easy to fix
Coilpacks - had one go on a mk1 fine on mk2
Arch Extensions -always fine
Axles no problems
ECU's no problems
ICV's mk1 had problems with this not so much the mk2
ABS Sensors -go after track use, just clean them and they are fine
Air bag light on pretty much as standard - plug under seat just comes loose normally just pull out push back in, normaly happens due to the seats being moved forward and back all the time.

Had 2 saxos back to back and went from a 2.0 corsa to the mk1 then bought the mk2 and tuned the engine etc, these where the only problems i had in 4 years of owning them. still miss the grin factor of my last one.

Cheers guys

Altho, with it being so low, if I went over a pot hole then the car would cut out. I'd have to go under the bonnet and flick the fuel cutoff switch. First time I didn't realise and Beardy had to come out and rescue me

Why not pal? Just because of the Saxo/Chav/Boyracer appeal??

Because it's French mate.

My mum has a Saxo Forte (ok it's a 1.1 but same thing) and it's been alright, I practised in it before I passed my test, but without the power steering it feels like a bus. There was a clonk in the exhaust where some sort of joint was tapping, and it echoed. Some local garage had it for an hour and couldn't find the problem, but a chap from my dad's work looked at the car for 2 mins and knew what it was, told the garage and they fixed it.

Other than that no other problems that I know of, and the seat was back and forth all the time when I was learning and the air bag light has never been on.

Then again my mum hardly ever takes it over 3k rpm so it's not that liable to break. After I passed on the other hand...

Oh yeah, one more thing, when it's cold in the morning, the CD player doesn't work, have to wait for it to warm up.

They're an absoloute pain. 3 out of 4 of us at work all own one (East coast, VTR and VTS) and all of us have had between us, driveshaft replacement, front end suspension rebuild, alternator, alarm problems, rear ARB problems, cam belt replacement, wheel bearings, clutch, ICV, Lambda sensor etc. I'm sure theres more but I can't think!
Can't fault the VTS engine though. It really is fantastic and they absolutely thrive on breathing mods. Shame really because the build quality and everything else is shockingly bad. They hate being lowered too and don't seem to cope without something breaking or rattling. The point that all the bolts either round off or snap is soooooo true! I always buy spares now before even contemplating removing something!

This is why I'm buying another Corsa! Mine have been great in the past. Ya speak as ya find though aye?

To be fair, I bet you all hammer them. Just like every other young lad that owns one, myself included.

106 GTi is the same, but has half leather interior (and in some cases full) and are a lot more expensive From this "list", the only thing that's went wrong with my VTR is the rear beam, and that was due to it not being lowered properly. That's a 51 plate with 69k.

I was alway dubious about french cars and their build quality until I had a 52 reg Clio DCi that I had no problems with and a N reg 106 Diesel that was fine too.

Your not going to get a luxury built car in a way of a Saxo, but if your after a nippy, nimble little run about with a bit of poke and some fun factor then why not a VTS!

I think there great little fun cars, have never heard any horror stories about then until I look on here.

I just think all the Gsi owners are scared of the vts

Generally the people who have negative views / comments have never owned one Often simply jumping on a band wagon of the hear say from the unfortunate few's that have had problems.

Saxo vts is far superior to any standard B

Look out for drive shafts
gearbox
and thrust bearing (clutch)

You'll have loads of fun in the saxo

I own a cupra running approx 230bhp and its not near as much fun as my old vts

stunning vts for sale on here atm

Jas has fancied me for a while but wont admit it! He is like a school kid that makes jokes at the people he likes.

Quite sad TBH.

But seriously get a BMW not a shitty french shopping car!

Reedy listened to me when I told him to get his and I belive he loves it!
