Riera is a left winger and Mascherano is the epitome of a holding defensive midfielder.

4-4-2

Plus I can't see SAF playing all 3 strikers at same time, even if rooney / tevez dropped into the midfield

Personally I think Anderson should start, he has been outstanding so far,

Evra Vidic Ferdinand Brown
Carrick Anderson Scholes Fletcher
Rooney Tevez/Berbatov

You can't afford to leave out Tevez. You also can't afford to not play Berbatov. And with the way Rooney played midweek, I'd not fancy leaving him out either.

The Berb will be on the bench until such times as your cruising or need a goal imo, tried and tested will most likely be his thinking!

Utd aren't really producing much in the way of goals though, and Liverpool are going to be right up for it. I think he needs to play.

Lucas isnt in contention as returned late from the Brazil game. Aurellio is though and Cavalieri will be on the bench.

After thinking about the team, i wouldnt mind something like this

------------------------------VDS-----------------------
Brown ---------- Rio -----------Vidic ---------Evra

Rooney -----Anderson ---- Carrick ----- Giggs

---------------Tevez --------- Berbatov -----------

Subs:
TK (should be foster, although don't know if he is fit yet)
Neville (please to god don't start him)
O'shea
Fletcher
Nani
Hargreaves
Scholes
