Because the beam can be easily scattered by the lights being dirty and they have to be clean to work effectively and not scatter and startle other drivers.

So HID's will pass an MOT? I was thinking I was going to have to change back to standards for the MOT.

Most people seem to pass with them, i'm not sure on the mot rules but afaik they would still be a fail if the tester was going by the book.

I bought a set of 8000k from Turborevs for my VTS. Great mod but they kept sticking and wouldn't move to high beam

I have never been pulled or had any problems with them, Regardless if they are legal or not, they look great imo. I dont see the point in paying for a kit which is basically the same as your original lights. Again its personal choice so im happy

Waste of money unless you have projector lenses, blind everbody coming the other way making them dangerous. at the beam pattern them lights are making on that garage door.

I have HID's in my omega, there fine for driving with (obvo as thats what they designed for lol) but if you look at them the brightness is kinda ruined by the incandescant side lights.....does any body know if i can get side lights that will match the kinda "more Pure" white light of the HID's????

Get LED ones. I've used AceParts Xenon white ones before...

I have a 6K set. Never had an issue with other motorists and they never needed adjusting. Bulbs have lasted over 18 months and I paid about £38 but they are cheaper now. (Diane-Shop). Passed an MOT no problems but as said they are illegal. I don't care though because the light difference is er night and day between the standard OEM candles fitted and the 6K bulbs.
