When I built my C16XE with a Matzel, the gasket between the Mantzel and inlet manifold was the biggest restriction. I just enlarged the holes.

yeah that's quite tempting, I quite fancy mine doing now! Shows how long I have been off this forum, didn't even know broster had a 172, still remember the red throttle bodied X16XE
