I wanted it but a doctor friend of mine has said there's still not enough long term analysis.

I await Fraser Young's input. Might be a nice 25th birthday present to me.

My eye sight is terrible

Can't really afford it at the minute though.

Would be so nice to be able to go swimming and be able to see things.

In fairness, I'm a Physician, not an Ophthalmologist, so I cant profess to really knowing too much about eyes and such like. Certainly not enough to feel confident giving any advice.

I have had patients however for whom it has been very successful, and I've also had many who have pursued a consultation yet been turned away as the surgery is only suitable for certain defects and occular anatomy set ups and of course everyone is slightly different.

So no, not much help. Worth speaking to an optician or indeed ophthalmologist (if you can get hold of one!) for an informed opinion for those who are interested.

I have been wanting it for a while, just not sure wether i can get it, as one eye is long sighted, and the other short (i think)

The only problem is, i HATE things going need my eyes, i was going to get contacts, but i couldnt even get them in my eye as they just kept shutting automaticaly. I cant put eyedrops in at all, and i hate it when i get water in my eyes!. So the thought of someone clamping my eye open, is really horrible

Dont they like inject youre eye or something? Or is someone just telling me shit!

I would rather keep wearing glasses than have a laser anywhere near my eyes.

I was always told by my opticians to wait until my prescription settles down for a good few years before thinking about having it done. Apparently if you have it done while your eyes are still getting worse they can get worse again after the surgery..?!

Anyone that goes in & mentions a past patients name will get a discount.

Think i'll boo myself in for the free consultation in the new year.

not really when you think about it,
eye surgery = 1200-2000 one off.

glasses *depending on your eyes/how vain you are*
but contacts (for me are £22 a month)
so after 7 years id be saving money
same for glasses if you have to keep chaging frames/prescriptions you end up saving money in the long run.

Yeah the fact there is even a percentage of risk to go wrong puts me off completely. Maybe I'd try it on some not so vital parts but if it goes wrong what exactly are they gonna do, "Oh sorry it went wrong, you're blind for life" when I could have just spent a bit more on glasses for the rest of my life.

It is expensive in the first instance but it does pay for itself, just too much risk for me.

With any procedure there is an element of risk. But technology has advanced so much in this field and there are loads of places to get it done. If the consultant didn't think you were right for surgery and it was risky for you, you'd hope, he wouldn't put you in for it.

Boob jobs have risks i'm sure but thousands of women still get it done. I know your eyes are slightly more important than your boobs but if it was such a risky procedure it wouldn't be available.

If i needed it done 'cos i wore glasses im sure i would consider it. Contacts and glasses would fuck me off.

Like glare at night from other cars headlights, the new technology eliminates that & laser cut flap is instead of a manual cut on your eyeball, they have to remove a layer either way, id rather the laser done it!!
