Theyr was no dangerous overtaking or "had a race with a mate" style driving involved.

So for a start your assuming he had his foot to the floor.

Yes,assuming.I am about 95% sure he had the foot planted as he kept looking in the rear view mirror to see where we were.

Infact im 100% sure he had the foot planted.Otherwise i dont think he wouldve pulled away slowly. At any speed over 80 in a 1.4-1.6etc,a small bit off the gas will slow a car down quite alot.So yes,he was foot to the floor.

So what happens if some1 is a much better driver than the other person, resulting in the slower car being quicker??

Well i had a go against one on the way back from Milton Keynes and was about as fast as my 1.4 sport.

He had 3 people in his car and there were me and the missus and was nothing in it at all. So unless his car was "fucked" or a "shit driver" even though it was a straight line then my 1.4 sport must be quick

Well the reason P1 Saxo's are quicker is not done to the power. There is only 2bhp in it. It's the weight factor! So that one extra person is why you were neck and neck

But isnt the corsa heavier to start with??So 3 up in the Saxo would be about the same weight wise as 2 up in the corsa.

Not much quicker as everyone makes out. Ive driven both, but never had a go against one, and i coulnt tell the difference tbh! (It seemed to produce its power earlier than the corsa, so off the line sempt quicker).

But It should be quicker looking at the stats

Acceleration the Corsa by far. After 80mph ish, the VTR would take it. I've had both btw.

i had a p2 vtr, and now have a 1.4 sport

the saxo wins any way you want too look at it, so much more fun to drive than the corsa, and would leave it for dead.

i will go back french at some point, and i agree they are not as unreliable as they are made out to be

Suppose you speak as you find. I had a few Corsa's, then sold my GSi for a VTS. Hated it from the day I had it and after 7 months, bought another Corsa. My Corsa's have always been reliable, stable and cope with most things you throw at them whereas the Saxo just broke everytime I changed anything. It was a mint example with 1 lady owner too so no excuse for abuse. I wouldn't say a VTR would leave a Sport for dead by any means.

yea mine was a minter, bought it with 29k on it fsh and tons of reciepts, the corsa does feel more solid though, wouldnt like to smash a saxo.

if and when i do go back to the darkside it would only be for a 106 gti, and the corsa will be kept for some kind of project.
