Don't know what you're talking about

I don't need to insult anyone to make my case, just watch Eastenders & it becomes clear that southerners talk like they've a pillow in their mouth

Adding a serious reply to the topic, I agree that London (+surrounding areas) are less friendly then the West Midlands. A typical example is me walking down the street in my hometown. I walk past someone, and if I catch eye contact, both of us smile out of natural instinct. It's not even like we realise we're doing it...

But when I'm in London (which I have been for half of my life),
A. First someone would have to make eye contact with you... which isn't easy since everyone's always got somewhere to be.
B. If you do make eye contact, it's quickly released by them before you even get a chance to smile. So now I don't bother

Not that Londoners are rude, but it would just feel that way if you were visiting from up north.

I tend to shy away from eye contact as a face/neck stabbing can be so unpleasant.

BT is Northern Ireland and i find we are the most friendliest of the UK now living in England i find most people wouldnt give you the time of day. Maybe its because we dont like things going wrong in Northern Ireland as we've had enough "troubles" lol

Everyones as bad as each other, you get your nice people, and you get your complete and utter badgers no matter where you are in Britain.

I've found the most unfriendly people to be from London, no offence to those on the board. Working in hotels over the past year has proven this. I wouldn't say they are not nice people as working with them for a couple of days has proven this - it's just there personality. Manchester people are sound but then that's probably because i've spent 5 days a week with them for the past year. However, the most friendly people are scousers. I don't get much time to mingle with the locals due to working long hours, but when i do it puts a smile on my face every time.

i find that the further north you go the nicer people are.

I have lived in middlesbrough for 4 years and its been good.

I have lived in Bath for about 8 months and although the area is nice the people arent as friendly.

I think its because the closer to london you are the more people are bothered about just getting to their destination. I have to make regular trips to london on the trains and tube and its terrible, I hate the tube. Its usually full of people who only care about one thing - themselves.

I do find people from Scotland much friendlier than London, as someone said you can catch eye contact with someone in a street and you'll both smile. Or go into a shop and the person will have a chat with you about your day.

In London, you'll be lucky if the person can speak English never mind have a chat.
