Slightly off topic but sort of relevant - The bloke over the road when I was a kid had an austin princess. He used to wear shell suits and lots of gold and thought he was a gangster because he worked for the council and took bribes apparantely

My mum didn't drive till like 2000, so my grandparents were the only ones with car...
Started with this (from when I can remember)

it rusted and fell to pieces
then they got this (but in blue) was what i learnt to drive in...

electrics failed, rusted, fell to bits...
Then they got this

but my nan died so I sold it for £900 last year
and now my grandad owns one of these

So far, its not rusted, broke, or died... W-reg with only 4k miles on atm tho so could be why

My mum had a beige Opel Kaddett when i was born, which she kept for donkeys years until it rotted... Then came a polo and 3 corsa's....
Not a very varied lot if truth be told!

My dad had an E30 325i, Cav SRi 16v, Cav V6 (one of the first, before they gave them model designations), Vectra SRi V6 which had timing belt failure on the motorway , Alfa 156 V6. They're the ones I remember...
Mum and Dad had some cool cars when they shared, one of them was a Lotus Sunbeam, a Manta GT/E with all the options ticked, including Hella driving lamps an Escort XR3i and some others which aren't as cool.

My dad had a msrk 1 Vauxhall Carlton in red. It was an ex-company car and ran fine until a small fire happened under the bonnet one night, and since then started playing up!
Got sold off at an auction in Bedford, then a few years later saw it broken down at the side of the road in Houghton Regis. Then re-appeared in Markyate and havent seen it since!
I would so buy it back if it came up again!
Only part of the plate a iremember was BAP!

I was born in 83 and my dad had a Y reg Astra. It was red, 5 door, 1.3 and it had 2 spot lights on the front.
Then in early 1991 he bought a Mk2 Astra, G38 CRE. It was blue, 5 dr and a 1.4L. When it got stolen it managed to leave the police for dead
January 2001 he bought a Mk4 Astra (can you see a pattern here?). T392 SRE, 1.6 sport, 5dr in Silver.
Over the years he's brought plenty of company cars home from a Citroen BX (up and down rear sus) to a XR2I, Legacy and even a Ford Galaxy. Oh just remembered an Escort GTI.

I remember my dad had a Triumph TR6 which was red with a white roof looked like this
C:\Documents and Settings\esibbald\My Documents\My Pictures\1962-1976-triumph-tr-5.jpg
It started off as a hard top bu he rolled it one day on the way to work when someone pulled out in front of him so when he got it back he rebuilt it with a soft top. Remember going round the country in it with a blaclava on looking like a bank robber in the back with the roof down.
my uncle also had a Renault 21 Turbo. Dont remember much about it, think it was red, but i do remember him messing with the boost and being stuck to the back of the seats whenever he booted it
