1.4 sports that can do 120 must have a fair few mods as a 1.6 sport can only just do about that (actual speed) i've had about 115mph out of mine with room to go

Dont forget that speedo clocks are 10% out... So if you think you're doing 115 your true speed is only 103

My 1.4 sport hit the limiter in 5th at 127mph, Sat nav said 115mph. That was down a rather large hill though
My Ibiza showed 149mph on the speedo and sat nav said 142mph. Again down a rather large hill

Your ALL wrong
If you have a 1.4 16v, and your hitting the 6620rpm rev limiter in 5th gear, your doing......
117mph
So unless your rev limter is higher (i.e Microwave oven chipped), you aint going any faster.
Mine showed 126 once at about 6000rpm. - 10% was 114.5mph, which worked out about right.
1.6 has a different gearbox and higher top end.

I love these threads.
130mph on the clocks @ Brunthingthorpe in a standard GSi with Datatron equipment = 117.5mph in reality

so a 1.6 sport would have to be indicating about 132/133 for true speed then?

you can't look at it like that as every car will be slightly different.
the 1.6 x16 does 119mph, the tiggy does 127 due to the shape, so if ur near the limiter, ur dng around 127.
andys 214bhp 1.6 only done 135mph at brunters, and no-one in a std 1.6 will get near that.
gps is like police cameras. they need constent calibration and are not a true speed indicator, but better than speedos.

No, your speedo said 135.
Read above for real term speed... You may of hit 120 if you were lucky.
