yeah I was looking at Z4 3.0's as they have taken a hit. For some reason I need to get the clio to the Ring a few times before I sell it!

Unfortunately most of my mates are french haters (I used to be one i guess)

Some do make 179bhp(182 ps), most make 173-178, Renault tollerances.

An S3 wont handle better, it will lose more money and won't be any faster

An s3 priced at 6/7k will probably drop a grand over 2 years, its already done most of its depreciation. A clio of the same value will drop 2 or 3 grand over 2 years.

I dont rate clio sports for handling at all, ream beam axles always spoil it. S3's feel much more planted with the 4wd and independant rear suspension, some good coilovers or shocks and springs turn them into a road weapon.

They also have much more potential for power. 225bhp stock and can be mapped up to 274 easily....

A 225bhp S3 audi WILL be faster, my mates standard LCR leaves them for dead so the audi will be the same I suspect.

Handling wise the clio will be a bit better and as for losing money you can pick up BOTH for good money but the audi is generally more expansive I would have thought

I suppose the S3 may well be quicker, mine just doesn't make me feel like I want to be pushing it and chucking it around

My 106 on the other hand loves being thrashed around

106 are like a go kart though. They are good on low speed twistys 40-60mph, but much faster and they begin to feel twitchy and dont feel safely planted - i certainly shit myself taking bends at 100mph+ in one.

On the other hand an audi S3 feels very planted at speed and it inspires more confidence on faster bends.

My advice to you if you dont feel confident is go to an airfeild and push your car to its limits so you find out where understeer kicks in and wether to be wary of any oversteer.

If all else fails then get yourself a decent suspension setup. if its a high mileage car you will want a set of polybushes for the suspension components and arb mounts to stiffen it all back up again, some better shocks and springs then the geometry set up by a professional - this will completely transform the car.

I didn't say I didn't feel confident mate

I just don't treat it as that kind of car as its not a hot hatch , its a cruiser

Its a performance hatch, 106 is a low powered shopping trolley with flared arches and a gti badge - its nowhere near as capable as an S3.

The S3's standard suspension is a bit cruiser, but its nothing bushes and uprated struts wont cure. The chassis is much more capable, but in a grown up manner. Add more power and you bring back the adrenaline you got from a 106 wondering if your going to make it out of the next corner alive!

I've had an S3 around a track, again and again and again. he pulled slightly on the straights. Tried to stay with me round a corner and hit a barrier, Go figure.

It isn't, it's dead level from my experience with 2 or 3.

An S3 won't handle better than a 182.

You must have got your clio for at least 2k less than market price if it's worth 300 quid less than a year ago though.

I would say the majority of them are critically acclaimed cars that are popular amoungst track and fast road enthsuiasts becuase they are shit right?

Audi S3 is dull and has a part time 4x4 system so I doubt it would affect the handling of the car unless it was slipping.

I go to a lot of trackdays, driveouts etc and ive never heard one person praise a smart roadster or a lupo gti for being awesome scratching tools. iver heard one person praise a jcw mini but said it was overpriced for what it was.

Perhaps in a womens circle of fast road driving those cars are cool, but certainly not in a mans.... smart roadster lmao, proper performace car

Infact, wasnt there a survey that said all the best looking women drive clio's?

Maybe you think that a 182 is the pinnacle of b road kings but ive driven and been in so many cars, from hot hatches to 200mph supercars and i can safely say a clio sport has never stuck in my mind at being a fast or fun car. i had more fun in a 106gti and a civic vti was faster and handled better.

i can accept a clio sport as a good daily driver but as an outright performace toy there never going to cut it.

S3 might have more power, but then it is more expensive like for like. Also its all down to taste, the above might be classed as 'womens' cars (even though i have personally never in my life seen a woman driving a Lupo GTi, Cooper S works or brabus Roadster, maybe the lower range model of each), however i would much rather be seen in each than a S3. Everyone knows chicks dig Minis

I never said it was a performance car, i just said they were overall better and had more potential than a clio for the same money.

Read my posts instead of trying to act clever
