You need a runabout Greg. Best thing you can ever own when you have an XE.
What problem does you MOT guy have with the engine/emission rules. Just tell them the engine is from a pre cat era (92 i think)

I can look after it but it can't be garaged unless you can bring a temp one with you
Sorn it, get a outside car cover, bring it to the farm.

I find it helps to have mates who are MOT testers!
Save another £200 and look for something like a 205 Diesel/Nova 1.2
Doesnt have to look good or go fast just get you from A to B and be fairly reliable and cheap to fix if it goes wrong!

Do this. I can recommend a good car cover. Got it for £100 from coveryourcar.com. I've cleaned the green one once since i got it, put it under the cover and its seen rain, snow, etc and it stays bone dry and clean
Very handy if you dont have a garage

yes there may be a small surcharge to keep it there to keep one of my parents quiet but I cant see it being any more expensive then what a local garage could cost. Let me know.

I gave the fucker death. Never went wrong. Was a bit cold in winter like and had a wheel bearing issue for like a year but was a winner of a car. Sold it to some chav for £350 a year later. £50 car for a year.

Yeah i can vouch for that. Got my Astra just over a year ago and i love driving it. Its quiet and no one looks at you and shakes their head when you drive past because your car is ridiculously loud
I remember getting back in my black one, rumbling down the street, on super hard suspension thinking "why do i like driving this again?"

Yeah, definitely made me think though.
XE insurance is £1600 at the mo ().
Friends brother is selling a perfectly decent 1.2 16v B for 1k, insurance is £650
Then I'd keep whatever the XE sells for basically to pay off debts/go on holiday.
