To be honest you get good ones and bad ones as you dod with any model of car.

Mileage doesnt bother me if its got FSH and been looked after.

I know someone with a X Fiesta Zetec S with 180k on original engine.

Another mate has a R reg saxo with 142k on the clock

I've never disputed they are good at what they claim to be, they go round corners fast and I wouldn't doubt it's prowess on track.

They are badly put together and they need death to get anywhere though, i'm just giving the other side of them that you don't seem to get very often.

ive got a phase 1 172, its got the odd little rattle like any car, i owned it for about 10months, sold it then bought it back last month as i missed it. in the 10months i had it before all i had to replace on it was the brake servo and i did about 25k in it, i agree with the fact you have to drive them hard to get them to shit but they are a very revy engine. i love mine to bits and dont plan on selling it again thats for sure! the corsa let now only gets fun/wkend use

i think that ones very low priced, and dont forget it will be hit by the tax increase we are getting shortly. id pay a bit more if i was you tbh as you generally get what you pay for!

I think if you buy one, it would have to be standard and low mileage.

Or if you want to save on intial outlay, buy a Ph1 and spend a couple of ££££ getting it perfect again.

I paid extra to get a low mileage standard cup that had been looked after, the extra I spent il save on the little things that will have gone wrong with most of the others. As said, test drive it, its not hard to diagnose the problems. Disagree with the engine being revvy, not as revvy as my 1.6 106 engines at all, they are all in the top end, hence people saying you have to give them beans to get them to go.

Also i think there is no lack of torque and it doesnt need to be reved loads. Much more torquey than my s2000 and my 306 rallye

306 Rallye torque: 145lb/ft
172 torque: 147lb/ft
>04 S2000 torque: 153b/ft
04> S2000 torque: 162lb/ft

I was curious so looked it up.

182 torque is different i think, to me the 182 felt like it had alot more torque but was stripped.

Weird you say that, mine feels gutless below 4k, the weight above my old 106s stands out. They pick up quickly though later in the rev range.

I had the Fabia first and it was much more fun, it was slightly slower from standstill than the clio, nothing in it when moving, fabia might have even been faster, and the clio was a bit better round corners.

The fabia wasn't built from plastic and tin foil though.
