i have an ecotec(well 3/4 lol) 50139 miles not used a single drop but then again 1 lady owner FSH ect ect

1.6 sport on 92k and i give it death daily but doesnt use oil or smoke at all

im using 15w40 oil think i mite change 2 10w40 maybe the oil is 2 think on 15w40 thats y it s smoking

Camo i use the same thickness of oil as you. it would be interesting to see if its the oil causing my car to smoke on start up.
Its the only fault i have with the car tho. no rust or anything.

I use 15/40 so its not the oil thats the problem 
Surely using a thinner lighter oil it was cause it to smoke more as it could push past the seals easily.

my 1400 sport has got 104k on it, engine runs sweet, bit of blue smoke on cold startups other than that and i have 10/40 in mine. nothing to worry about though, probably only stem seals on their way out, not worth strippin engine down to fix until they completely go, or get unbearably bad

my 1600 gives a little puff of blue smoke on start up, using 10-40 semi.

my 1.4 16v engine used to puff a gloom of black smoke out on every gear change and used loads of oil that were ragged though and it had done 120k ha ha still got it though only cause ive upgraded that i dont need it went like a dream 133 flat out in fifth loved it

mines just touchin 108k doesnt smoke at all doesnt use oil starts up first time every time its a rite belter and is 4 sale hint hint
