I could never be arsed doing anything myself before I did the conversion, I just jumped in at the deep end with a few mates to help, and its still going strong 2 1/2 years later. Now I do everything myself, also helps I have a proper unit to do stuff.

I would if I knew how to.

Not that I have the time, or the right tools, or even space (my only car is parked on the road).

For me it's a confidence factor. Never been my strongest point. And no aspect of tools and how-to either

Space, tools, time, know how, confidence etc.

All very well and good getting E-points building it yourself, if you know what your doing great.

I could make a simple mistake and kill myself and or others. So would rather leave it to people who have spent years learning a trade. Rather than botching or hoping i had done it right.

I do things where i can, im ok with engines. But wires/suspension/busheses etc i am no good with so wouldnt risk destroying it.

Would love to try do one myself, with appropriate instruction im sure i could do it

Anyone that has see Lee Mitchell at work will put anyones home made efforts to shame.

You turn up and within ten minutes either the engine is in bits or suspension/lower arms etc. It's his confidence in his ability and how easily he makes it look.

So I get home and try to do it, and it takes me ages and things start going wrong, bolts rounding off and I get bored and can't be bothered. Where as he would have the solution for rounded off bolts etc.

suspensions a doddle, a few bolts done up tightly and springs put in correct way, where as engines have millions of wires, pipes, bolts and brackets left right and centre plus a zillion components

Confidence level and skill for me, would love to do an engine conversion one day but would have to be on a second car and at the moment I haven't got the cash for that.

Plus know a lot of people that could do a conversion for me who are very good at what they do.

I'm talking about balljoints, lower arms, rear beam bushes etc.

Is he a mechanic by trade? or has he just learnt by doing it himself etc....

Bet hes been messing with them a fair few years too so like you say a lot is down to confidence.

I have a big interest in cars, and undestand them very well. But i never do anything myself. I have no tools at all its shocking. My best friend is a mechanic, who has a full strap on set at home, garage to work in etc so its just so easy!

But i rekon i could do quiet alot of what he does if i was in the same situation!
