thats the RCA cable that just sound not power,

By the main power cable, you mean the battery? (red cable)? Because that does go straight to battery. It's bolted on there.
Yer it comes from the amp to the battery

yeah that one does that have a fuse or black box anywhere on it, usually in the engine bay?

Erm, nope. The only fuses I can see in the setup...there's one on this new amp and 2 on the old amp.
new = 25
old = 2x20
The red power cable from battery goes through a hole in the passengers footwell, under the carpet on passenger side and under the sill trims etc. to the boot. No fuses etc

Tbh mate, I havn't got the foggiest where the ground wire begins or where it ends up because I did not set the system up but if you help me (tell me where it's meant to start), I can trace it and tell you? lol

ah ok on the amp you should have 3 labeled connections, +12/remote/-12 or ground, what make and model is you amp so i can see what we are working with.

On my amp...there are 4 connections for the subwoofer(s).
Then 3 other connections...red (battery) black (earth i should think), and blue (remote)...want me to chase the black wire? lol
It's not called -12 on the amp, just...GND

Right, now I'm more confused.
I found a black wire..but it doesn't match the one on my amp, the one on my amp is bronze coloured wire (lots of it), wrapped in black plastic, the one I found (under the rear passenger seat (goes down a hole under there), has lots of little different coloured wires wrapped in black tape.
I don't think the ground will be unground because it was done professionally  I'm stumped

hmmmm ok thats part of your loom dont touch that. grab the black GND wire thats plugged into the amp and try and find the end of that.

i mean with out a live tester you'll never know if power is even getting to the amp. i can talk you through making a live tester though there easy enough

okay, np.
Well I just checked the ground mate. It's ground under the carpet in the boot...it's screwed down into the metal, so it's definitely earthed correctly...

okay your gunna need a live tester then.
to make one all you need is 2 bits of wire and your numberplate light unit

yeah thats fine, so what you want to do is pop tyour number plate light out and disconnect it, this should give you 2 like silver connection on he number plate light, seperate the wires and hook them up to these connecters

then test on the battery one wire to neg one to positive, if the bulb light up you got power

no just to check that the tester works as it should
when you put the cable on the battery +&- the bulb should light up
