Think a place called P&R Finishing in Berkampstead might possibly be able to do that finish as they have done 'crackle' paint jobs for my work in the past!

You can get textured paints in B&Q. will be cheaper and easier than getting ti teflon coated. I read on one site that do it that it is done on military aircraft brakes. That is bollocks, I've worked on loads of planes and none of them have it, just gloss on the brake areas.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Yeah, powder coating is only more effective than paint if it seals the part. The edge of the powder coat can let moisture under it as it doesn't chemically bond to the material the same way as an aluminium etch primer and top coat would.

teflon is sprayed on, so only has limited durability.

but think about your tefal frying pan, survives a fair amount of heat lol

But you can't clean it with a plastic scourer because it will wear off the coating.

Lap Tab in Brum use an etch primer with their PCing. Would that not be the best of both worlds?

but it's wipe clean once coated... unless you're cooking eggs and bacon on your engine i doubt it'll bother you
