The clutch would maybe last from the mappers to the nearest garage to fit a new clutch.

He put 10,000 miles on it when he had it mapped to 190bhp (and 6,000 miles on 180bhp) with the PD160 in take and it lasted fine (no slipping) right up to when he changed the turbo, clutch, exhaust and so on. The old clutch still looked alright (I saw it myself).

Must have been lucky then or a lower torque figure, it's the torque that wrecks the clutch.
PD160 intakes are placebo I think, SEAT charge a fortune now as well.

Yeah i'd go for the astra mk5 cdti 150, map straight to 206bhp.
I'm getting the van version.

Mk4 Ibiza TDi. Theres a Sport and FR versions with the PD130 and the Cupra with PD160, although a cupra may push your budget a bit
You can get 260bhp on standard fuel pump and injectors, just need water/meth kit . To see 230bhp, you need pd150/160 hybrid turbo, FMIC, exhaust, filter and mapped to suit
this is a video of my mates ibiza Fr running 230bhp and about 380 lb/ft currently. In this he ran a 14.7 and 0-60 in 6.5, which was his slowest of the day. His quickest (fastest diesel and seat!) was 13.5 and 0-60 of 5secs.

Ibiza FR TDi, Focus TDCi or Fiesta Zetec S TDCi.
I'd choose the Fiesta for equipment, full leather etc.

I am on my second Mk4 Ibiza pd130. I have had mine stage1 remapped by P-torque and is currently 180bhp and 315lbft of torque.
And as others have said i am still returning a good 55 - 65mpg
I also would consider a 150cdti astra. My mate had that remapped and was 200bhp with 305lbft of torque.
Not bad figures for a 'tractor'
