No, the price in my post is for a full tooth. They took his old tooth right out, then drilled into his gum, then cemented the new gold one in place.

ok a full tooth is not a tooth shaped thing put back in, a full tooth is a titanium screw, screwed into the bone with either a porcelian or gold crown put over the top, which costs £2000+
I just asked my dad who is a dentist.

Gold teeth tend to be cheaper than porcelain; I've got a white porcelain crown which looks like a normal tooth; cost about £400 + the initial root canal

yes, but as I said my dad is a dentist he knows the cost of things.
You must be talking about drilling into the tooth leaving the roots still there and glueing a crown on top, isn't a full tooth.
A full tooth has to use expensive non-reacting (to your body) metals like titanium, believe it or not you can't have just gold as your body rejects gold and will push your tooth out, thats why the screw in is titanium or use the cheaper method of keeping your roots there.

private indeed, but you can get it done on the NHS depends which tooth and shit, the highest payment towards the NHS you have to pay is around £360, you might not have to pay this much but will still be a lot. Also some denists refuse to do the treatment on the NHS because they get payed bugger all for doing it.

Still though I doubt you will get the titanium screw in on the NHS because it will cost them too much.

I can see why I was given that kind of ball park figure. Mine was into the jaw etc..as I had no root left due to an infection.
