My mate races Scoobs in his MR2 all the time. They beat him off the line obviously, then theyre level again after 40mph. At 60 the MR2 starts to pull away slightly but 4th gear is really long in Scoobs and they pull back a bit. But once over 100mph the MR2 leaves it for dead. Subaru's are built like lunch boxes and are not very aerodynamic hence slow to accelerate past 100mph.
The MR2 my mate has only has chip, full zorst, HKS Filter and plugs n leads.

bigW is that a MR 2 Turbo? and were you racing a standard Impreza? just the Impreza is about a second quicker on the books than a standard n/a MR 2 or so i was lead to believe

Not that impressed by them, I had a race with one on the M25 just past Guildford and he got away from me, but was'nt pulling away fast.

I quite like em, nearly bought one, but decided they were too common and went for my GT4!
The scoobys sound amazin with the right exhaust and induction kit eg scoobysport exhaust and hks filter, you just cant beat the sound of the flat four

STD Series 2 MR2 0-60 5.2, with mods that falls below 5 secs. About 265bhp and lighter and more aerodynamoc that a Scoob. Not me driving btw.

But Scooby's are rally cars that are for driving in 2nd, 3rd or 4th , not many opertunities to get 100+ in them, if you want 100+ scooby is not the best thing for it

Good point AP. They are built for going quick over short distances. A subaru will be better for thrashing around country roads and will get from A to B quicker than say an MR2. Id rather have a Toyota tho! Im just biased.

bigW - 265bhp fcuking hell bet that gets a bit hairy. My mates got an standard n/a MR2 and I nearly wiped us out on a round a bout. I must add it was my first time driving a rwd car though.

scooby's have a first rate chassis. they are VERY VERY quick. you all talkin about them not impressin u etc.. yea u prob racing a WRX as standard they aint fast. try racing a STi and see if u leave that behind. or even better a P1 or 22B or RA etc..

quite a few are saying not impressed, when seen on a motor way etc, but as someone said earlier they are built for rally. Try it on with an impreza round country roads etc then see it excell.

The new ones with the face lift coming soon are having problems to do with the new bonnet scoop design. Supposibly u can see the whole bonnet flexing and it makes a LOT of wind noise which dont sound too good!!!

there is no getting away from it - they are a good car, i would have one and i cant understand why anyone who owns a corsa would slag them off to be honest. They are quite common but if its exclusivity you want a corsa is hardly the way to go

I never really understood how quick they were until last week.
T'was going to Cheddar on this big B road, over a roundabout, was going pretty quickish, giving it a good drive. This impreza badboy had to harshly give way to me. He must have thought that I was trying to like race away from him - Dunno how he got that idea
I looked in my mirror and he had dropped back about 20 metres. I was doing about 60-65. Looked in my mirror again and WHAAARRRPPPP he zoomed right up to my ass again, in like less than a second
Never seen anything accelerate so quick !
