I had 5 witnesses.
1 guy who just happened to be there at the time, 3 bouncers and a community warden (she wasn't on duty at the time).
The problem is, when they went for the ID parade, only one guy (a bouncer) managed to positively ID the pair, the others have a fairly shady recollection of the events and in some cases conflicting statements. The QC realised this and picked holes in their stories. Its all rather frustrating.

the innocent man will be arrested and charged with serious assault, if the accused is found to be guilty, then the best mate and the wife will be charged with perjury.
Definitely better off locked up.
Sounds like a selfish twat if he'd do that to his missus and mate.

meh, I wouldn't feel guilty at all if I was you. Random attacks are shite, had it happen to me before and had I been able to take the accused to court I would have, as it was I got £500 compensation and an £800 dental bill. So really Blukoo, think yourself lucky

It's maybe better off that the baby has no Dad for five years, I wouldn't like to think that children are being nurtured and educated by mindless criminals.

Fuck it... if he's a repeat offender, knowing that he's going to have a child, why should you even give a shit? He's had his chance. Just because they have a baby on the way, doesn't mean anything changes.
Might sound harsh, but brought it on himself.

Acoms razor would point to the fact that it probably is her baby she is carrying.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

A mate of mine has got the opposite problem; hes on bail for GBH after he nearly beat someone to death for threatening his sister and also directly threatening her 7 month old son. Possibly looking at doing time and he was about to go back into the military which is now off the cards..

You'll probably be doing her and the kid a favour. If he is willing to belt you randomly, and has past convictions for it, then he is obviously a fucking tool.

Nope, about the same height and build as me (6ft 2, 14 stone). He works as a paver though, so he obviously has some strength to him.
He was up against two charges:
(I) Breach of the peace
(II) Serious assault
He was found "not guilty" for breach of the peace, and "not proven" for the serious assault.
He was equitted on the spot and he walked free.
What a fucking joke!

The QC he hired obviously did a good enough job of puttin an element of doubt in the minds of the jury. Plus his mate taking the blame obviously swayed their decision.
So the innocent man will be charged with assault and the guilty man will walk free
