Spoken like a true English man

I wouldn't like to go anywhere and not even make an effort to speak their language. Just seems rude.

A mixture, naturally Portuguese mostly when I'm talking to myself or imagine stuff happening that involves family members or with people at home, but all my friends are English etc... and when I play things back I play back in English, because that is exactly how it would happen.

But yeah, Portuguese.

i find It quite an intersting question.. I could imagine speaking another language fluently and being able to think in that language aswell.

Yes, but it's not like I've only been here for a few years, I've spent 15 years in Britain, you'd know instantly if you spoke to me in person, I have a bit of a Northern twang.

I speak Portuguese in my home, and at Mum's or sisters and brothers houses, in public I speak English, at work (my staff are all English and some Scottish) and when I'm out in the pub or with my English mates I speak English too so I bet the ratio (English : Portuguese) would be 75:25 on a daily basis.

So would I be safe thanking the guy in the Portuguese cafe for his sandwich using obrigada? He's from Porto.

The way I see it if you start speaking the foreign language you're just asking the native to speak back to you in their language, leading to much embarrasment on your part as you insult them in some way or another with the wrong word.

Best not to bother I find
