yeah you definately have no chance of getting a council house earning that i earn, 24,000 on my own and they have said i have to much ncome coming into the house. I am renting at the moment and looking round for the best schemes to buy, whilst saving. Trust me though its bloody hard work trying to save for a deposit whilst renting and very slow going but if its something you have your heart set on, then you'll just have to compromise on not going out so much etc

I'm saving but even if I only had to get a 10% deposit I'd need something like £15,000 which will take years and years. Very very hard on my own, nobody will actually give me a big enough mortgage either! Only hope is to get a girlfriend earning similar money to me and with some savings or I'm still going to be living at home when I'm 30.

You've also got a brand new (or pretty much, I can't remember) A3.
Sell that and theres more than half your deposit right there

I've got it on PCP. If I had that kind of cash lying round it'd be going on a deposit for a house not a car.
Even when I get rid of the A3 I wont be massively better off as I'll have to get another car of some sort and still wont earn enough to get a big enough mortgage on my own...
Everyone always says about the car but regardless of whether I had the car or not I still could not get a house with the way prices are around here.
