proper driving roads. northumberland has soem good ones out of the way and the pennines/yorkshire are great for a drive with great scenery. not forgetting north wales though the police get round there now with bikes and cameras

to be fair, i will agree that northeners tend to be more friendly than southeners and everyone can have a laugh (from my experience of living in West Yorkshire for 4 years). Although the lack of sunshine sure makes places look grim as fook especially come winter. But fuck me did it take a while to understand the yorkshire accent (same with the scouse accent tbh), especially when someones accent is thick and they're talking at a fair pace.
