No, She is not baptised and does not follow what is called the Truth, which is following the rules. but she has been brought up as a Jehovah's witness and believes strongly in Jehovah.

If that makes sense.

nice people or no karlos, it's rude to come to people's private property, interupt whatever they was doing to talk about something that 95% of people don't want to talk about or believe in. why don't they just hold the meetings or gatherings? they don't have to be so 'pushy' about converting others. Not trying to sound nasty, just my opinion.

I like Karlos.... Standing up for something that every other bandwagon person is jumping on. Fair play homie!

When I was all gobby in my early 20's, i'd have replied like some would have done. I guess with age comes wisdom and placidness

End of the day, they are following their religion, and I don't feel the need to be-little them.

If they have come to my door, i've simply and politely said that thanks but im honestly not a follower of any religion and that they would be better spending their time chatting to another person who may be interested. I say it in a nice polite way, and every time i've said it, they've always been polite, thanked me for comign to the door, being polite, and carried on their way.

I don't feel the need to be-little someone for following their own faith, as its their faith, and isn't really harming me as i've probably paused whatever I was watching.

I do find some of their methods strange, but as im not JW, its not my issue to worry about.

Not really. They are following their faith. They are not cold callers.

I get far more pissed off and put on the spot with some form of pikey trying to sell me new windows or facisas as they won't take no for an answer.

Maybe if you understood some religions a bit more, u'd have a more intelligent statement.

And no, im not religious at all, never have been and doubt I ever will be. Religion is interesting due to its power over people though, and the vast variety of religions and its impact on the world means it is an interesting subject.

Is it your private property, or your parents?

And I dont' believe the porno story said earlier by someone. I've heard that story SO many times... I wonder how many times is actually been done though????

religion is a form of control (IMO) for a world that 2000+ years ago was coming into chaos with no direction for people.

Just think, if every human followed the 10 commandments, life would be a very happy thing.

my missus's mum is all churchy (not jw or mormon but some church that follows the jw type of door to door but preaching jesus) and she hasnt and wouldnt try preaching to me as when i first met her we had a convo about beliefs and i said that i like the idea of a god but i dont beleive in jesus.

ive met all the people from the church and they're all really nice people but they ask the same, about beliefs and i tell them

Phil

p.s. when i was younger jw's came to the door and asked if my parents where in and i replied, no, they're jws and out preachin, they smiled and walked off

Jehova's Witnesses and Mormons for that matter do the same thing as well (won't take no for an answer). 'They' might be all polite and nice as pie, but remember all they are doing is recruiting for their religions. They are exactly the same as door-to-door salepeople - only they offer you religion instead of a great deal on Sky or your utilities.

BTW if I ever have the misfortune of opening my door to some religious folk I do politely tell them I am not interested - even if I have to tell them about 10 times.

My own family are Jehovas Witnesses, I've seen first hand how it operates. It doesn't come between our family at all, it never gets mentioned and if you met them on the street you would never know.

Although when my sister was born in '75 my auntie did say to my mum that they really ought to think about becoming Witnesses so that when their judgement day comes she will be allowed in to heaven. I think that's the crux of it from my basic understanding.

Never asked them again, never bothered to ask about it when I was born good job, I'm a heathen

That is not the topic though is it. Thats another debate entirely.

And Sam, no, not at all. Offering my information on their religion is not trying to force me to take a free quote and add my name and address to a database so I can be harrassed with calls and windows I don't want..

I've answered my door to many JW (And at my mums when i live there too) and never ever had an issue.

As said, if you understood the religion, you would understand that spreading the word of their faith is part of their religion.

Maybe you need to re-asses exactly what your saying, and whether what your saying leaves you open for another reply (like a call centre).

Perhaps not, but their 'visits' are unsolicited the same as other people that knock on your door trying to sell something. If I was interested in their religion I would contact them to learn more about what they had to offer - I don't need anyone forcing me to follow their particular religion thanks.

They are following it.

Fair enough people believing in something but forcing it down other peoples throats is going too far.

You should try working for some, ive fitted a kitchen for a family of 'Jovos' it wasnt pleasant.

We have a Jovo 'Depo' about 30 yards away from my house. You'd be supprised, theres Builders Vans and an M5 in the carpark on there 'group' nights.
