but the cars not road worthy as its failed. and driving the car knowing that its not road worthy i think you will find is illegal, even if it still does have a month left.

but legally, it still has mot on the system until date x. which legally means you have mot.

well thats how i thought it worked aswell. but apparantley not.

No true matey... things have changed.. My mate is an MOT guy and has been one for a long long time... Ive been down this route before..
If its been logged on the vosa system as a fail its logged as unfit for road use until repair to date even if there is an outstanding vaild mot to the registration. This is why I dont bother getting early MOT's anymore

honestly col, thats not right though. not bothered wo your mate is or how double hard he is. its just not true.

if your car fails an early mot, its still legally mot'd to the date it originally ran out at.

thats just for internet taxing purposes it doesnt mean it hasnt got an mot and you could still have taxed it in a post office or on the phone

honestly adamF. i know you are an mot tester but id not argue your case against someone that has a mate of a mate that does it. just admit defeat.

OK kid you win that one 7-1 is abit of a kicking

On the up side... im actually speaking through my arse... was fun though lads

Taken from an MOT ? page

"Your MOT is valid until its expiry date even if in the meantime your car fails the MOT - the original pass is still valid. In fact you can have the Test done up to a calendar month before the expiry date and have the new MOT forward-dated to the expiry date of the existing certificate. So if you have your car Tested during that month and it fails, this gives you time to have the repairs carried out and the car re-tested before the expiry of the original certificate and you are not disadvantaged as a result. - MOTT."

So i was wrong but there is the right answer in full
