Well surely the tuning box works the same as a remap. Upping boost and changing a few of the settings so it can run the extra boost. If you want more you'd need to change other engine components.

only one type of tuning box, the CRD-T, alters boost levels, the rest only alter the fueling
they can be remapped and there is also intercooler, exhaust and turbo upgrades available for this engine

You can get the 888 remap. People have tried to get alot more power out of them 240+bhp, but at the end of the day its diesel.

i dont see how it being diesel makes it any worse than a petrol with similar power?
the diesel will have less revs but a shit load more torque, my boxed astra diesel drive briliantly and i would have another if it came to it

I'm just saying I wouldn't go over the top. I've seen a few threads with people spending ££££'s on Phase 3 or what not. The results are not what they expected.
Mattk- There are plenty of RR printouts to show the Box will get the circa 200bhp.

ive got the same engine in my fiat bravo 57reg, got it remaped in the summer , made 205 bhp, bloke before me brought the tuning box he only got 190odd from it, personally id go for a remap if possible as all engines have different tolerances.

They can but the main advantage for me is that I can take it off in 20 seconds when it needs to go for warranty work whereas a remap you run the risk of voiding your warranty if they notice.

i hav took mine in for warranty work before due too a egr valve problem and their machines worked fine not showing that it had been played arnd with. Also if they take your car out on road test they shouldnt be driving it fast anyway.

Did you only manage to get 205bhp from a custom map?
Big benefit of a map over the box is it being switchable with the sport button, boxes are really good for warranty though and being able to sell on.

u2u'd essex boy
i can map these, with the high power map to 208bhp/290lbft (get clutch problems over 300lbft)
increase rev limiter, and pulls like a petrol too
and can make the EGR valve deleted etc

he got it too 220bhp but the clutch was way on its limit and i wasnt keen on the build up of black smoke, it also made 369lbs of torque lol.. now its on 320 odd. clutch is fine but then mines a fiat bravo all be it the same engine they could use different clutches. wish i could find my graphs!! i should of kept them.

Sounds interesting, is it a map you've made?
